Roboexotica - Of emotional and drunken machines

Stories are emotional machines. And Johannes Grenzfurthner builds them in every conceivable form. As a filmmaker, artist, and founder of the monochrom collective, he creates works that think, feel, and sometimes slur. Whether in cinema or at Roboexotica and Arse Elektronika, his projects fuse narrative and mechanics, intoxication and reflection, humor and loss of control.

Grenzfurthner has always wanted to tell stories -- even when they’re made of circuit boards, tubes, and sensors. His machines and films share the same heartbeat: they process longing, failure, and the insatiable need to be understood.

We talk about alcohol as a social operating system, about affect in the apparatus, and about the attempt to make technology feel... or at least slur.
