Silent Events
With the ➜ werkzeugH conversations, we have launched a format in which you can organize meetings in our restaurant where any number of people can follow a conversation on site, but not everyone in the room has to be quiet.
The first of these events worked great. You could follow the conversation really well if you wanted to (or talk to your neighbor about what you were listening to or get a drink at the bar)
At werkzeugH, we see it all the time that groups arrange to meet at our place for “regulars’ tables”.
They like the atmosphere, but most of the time they have to stop organizing them here because the number of people gets too big and there’s no opportunity for someone to talk or present something at the beginning that everyone can understand.
You then have to find other places where there is a back room or a single room that you can rent.
ideal for regular meetings
“Stammtisch”, “Meetups”, “Book club”,…
I’m familiar with this, and I also enjoy attending such meetings where someone presents something. There are one or two talks, and at the end you arrange to have a drink together.
But only 10 of the 30 people make it to the bar.
With the silent event concept, you can start right in the bar.
This means that nothing stands in the way of networking. The audience doesn’t necessarily have to sit next to each other, as long as it’s just about listening.
Infrastructure:
-
2-6 wireless clip-on microphones, individually adjustable on a central mixing console
-
Smartphone app for guests to listen in on site
-
1 projector with Airplay connection for presentation
-
1 announcement screen on which the instructions and QR code can be shown for listening in
“on the horizon”
I (Manfred) am actually a programmer, and the restaurant is my “hobby”,
But for the “werkzeugH-Conversation” series, I have now developed some tools to make it easy to organize the events.
I plan to make some of these tools available to you as well, if you want to have a regular series of events at .# Silent Events

As I said, I have everything ready for my own events. I still have to whitelabel it so that it also works for guest events, This means that these features probably won’t be available before 2026.
Until then, you can still pay for them on Meetup.com.
